PEC-TECHATHON 4.0 is dedicated to tackling specific problem statements across various domains. Our aim is to develop practical solutions that positively impact society, industries, and communities. By presenting real-world challenges, the hackathon encourages participants to work on projects that yield tangible outcomes and implementable solutions.

SCOPE

PEC-TECHATHON 4.0 sets the stage for an exhilarating and innovative hackathon, focusing on tackling specific problem statements across diverse domains. Participants will engage with a wide array of challenges, encouraging creative thinking and the development of practical, real-world solutions. The event is designed to foster technology-driven innovations that positively impact society, industries, and communities.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore various themes, including Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Sustainability, Healthcare, Education, FinTech, and more. The hackathon welcomes students from diverse academic backgrounds, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork.

Over the course of the 24-hour competition, participants will benefit from mentorship by experienced professionals, gaining valuable guidance and insights to refine their projects. Networking opportunities will abound, allowing participants to connect with peers, mentors, and potential employers from the tech industry.

Cognizant CARE

Techathon 1.0 (student1)

On 25 April 2024, Cognizant proposed to on-board students from II and III year to work on healthcare-based use cases as part of the CARE (Cognizant Academia Research Ecosystem) initiative, offered exclusively to its MoU partner institutions. The company requested one batch comprising four students to work directly at the Cognizant campus, providing them with hands-on industry exposure and mentoring under this collaborative academic-industry program.


On 25 October 2024, the CTS CARE Internship Valedictory Event was held at Cognizant CKC, Shollinganallur, to celebrate the successful completion of the July–August 2024 internship by students from Panimalar College. The event included introductions from Cognizant mentors, student reflections on their experiences, and discussions on the internship’s impact on career readiness and academic growth. Certificates were awarded to the interns, and the event concluded with a networking lunch at Novotel, strengthening ties between academia and industry.

ELIGIBILITY

   All Second Year, Pre-Final Year and Postgraduate Students from diverse disciplines and departments within Panimalar Engineering College are eligible to participate in PEC - TECHATHON 4.0

   Participants can form teams comprising of 4 members, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative thinking.

   Multiple nominations from individuals or teams are not allowed.

   All Registered Contestants have to submit solution to problem statements in the ideation template to the college.

TIMELINE
  • 17th Aug, 2026 - 21st Aug, 2026

    Registration

    A maximum of 4 members per team can register for the hackathon. Up to 200 students (50 teams) from 9 disciplines are accepted for participation.

  • 22nd Aug, 2026 - 24th Aug, 2026

    Ideation

    Problem statements and solutions must be submitted in the ideation template to the college for validation. The top 15 teams will be shortlisted for the next phase.

  • 26th Aug, 2026 - 3rd Sept, 2026

    Developing MVP (Top 15 Teams)

    Shortlisted teams will develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or Prototype of their solution.

  • 7th Sept, 2026

    FINALIST ANNOUNCEMENT

  • 10th Sept, 2026 - 11th Sept, 2026

    Grand Finale

    Shortlisted teams will present their final MVP demo to a panel of Cognizant leaders at the college. Top innovators will be honored at the college.

   AI Tutor: Students learn at different paces and often struggle to identify knowledge gaps. Build an AI-powered tutor that creates personalised learning plans, quizzes and progress tracking.
   Voice-Based Agent Assistant: Many users struggle with complex applications and workflows. Develop a voice-enabled AI agent capable of understanding requests and performing multi-step tasks.
   AI Safety & Governance Layer: Organisations need mechanisms to prevent sensitive data exposure in AI systems. Build a framework that identifies PII, masks sensitive information and generates audit logs.
   Customer Complaint Resolution Assistant: Customer support teams receive large volumes of complaints with varying priorities. Build a solution that categorises issues, prioritises them and recommends resolutions.
   Smart Meeting Productivity Analyzer: Organisations spend thousands of hours in meetings but gain limited visibility into outcomes. Develop a solution that extracts actions, decisions and productivity insights from meeting notes.
   Employee Learning Recommendation Platform: Employees often lack visibility into the right skills needed for career growth. Build a system that recommends training and learning paths based on existing skills and goals.
   SME Cash Flow Predictor: Small businesses frequently encounter unexpected cash shortages. Create a solution that forecasts future cash flow and provides recommendations for financial planning.
   Elderly Care Monitoring System: Families often struggle to monitor the well-being of elderly relatives living independently. Build a platform that tracks wellness indicators, medication adherence and emergency situations.
   Disease Prediction Assistant: Early identification of health risks can significantly improve outcomes. Create a solution that analyses symptoms and lifestyle data to provide health risk assessments and preventive recommendations.
   AI Medical Scribe: Doctors spend a significant amount of time documenting consultations. Build an AI assistant that converts doctor-patient conversations into structured medical notes and action items.
   Smart Inventory Replenishment System: Businesses frequently overstock some products while running out of others. Develop a system that predicts demand and recommends replenishment quantities.
   Dynamic Pricing Recommendation Engine: Businesses must constantly balance profitability and competitiveness. Create an engine that recommends product pricing based on demand and inventory levels.
